Danville Prison Release Outcomes
Danville Correctional Center is an Illinois Department of Corrections men's prison located in Vermilion County. Geography does not turn its residents into county-jail detainees. They remain in state custody. When a person leaves Danville, the record may show transfer to another IDOC institution, release to mandatory supervised release, old-law parole, or final discharge. Each event has a different legal effect.
A transfer is continued state confinement. A public profile with `PAROLE` status indicates release from prison into state supervision as reported by IDOC. It does not establish that the correctional sentence has ended. A projected discharge date is the expected end of that sentence if nothing changes. Final discharge ends the relevant correctional status, while a new case, detainer, or other authority may still affect the person's circumstances.

Confirm a Danville Prison Release
The IDOC Individual in Custody Search is the correct public starting point. Its landing page opens the state search, which accepts last name, IDOC number, or birthdate. The database has no verified released-only filter. A missing result does not prove final discharge because the duration of fully discharged profile availability was not established.
- Search by IDOC number when available. Otherwise, use last name or birthdate and compare the identifiers on matching profiles.
- Open the record and read `Offender Status`, `Location`, the admission and release information, and each date label exactly as shown.
- Distinguish `Parole Date`, `Projected Parole Date`, `Last Paroled Date`, and `Projected Discharge Date`. They are not synonyms.
- If the location names another IDOC prison, treat the move as transfer and continued custody.
- When the profile is missing or unclear, contact IDOC and request admission, institutional movement, release or parole, discharge, and sentencing information.

Danville Release Record Fields
IDOC profiles can show front and side department photographs, IDOC number, name, parent institution, offender status and location, physical descriptors, marks or tattoos, admission and release information, and sentence details. Sentence rows may include the mittimus or case number, offense class, count, custody date, sentence, county, and `Sentence Discharged?: YES/NO`.
Date labels depend on the sentence and current status. A profile may show `Projected Parole Date`, `Last Paroled Date`, `Parole Date`, or `Projected Discharge Date`. `INELIGIBLE` can appear where a sentence does not qualify for a date. Preserve those terms when comparing events. Calling every date a release date can turn an estimate, prior event, or sentence-end date into a false claim.

Request Danville Release Records
A formal IDOC request should identify the person by full name and IDOC number if known. Ask for admission history, institutional movements, release or parole date, discharge status, current status, and sentencing fields. A narrow request lets the department identify the relevant record series. Ask whether a historical institutional photograph is releasable rather than assuming it must be produced.

IDOC's FAQ identifies several public fields for current or former individuals, including name, department number, parent institution, status or location, vital statistics, admission and release dates, and sentencing information. Other material can remain confidential without valid legal process. Requesting the defined fields avoids treating the live profile as a permanent archive.
If the response appears inconsistent with the public profile, preserve both records and identify the exact field in question. Dates can refer to admission, parole, a prior parole event, projected discharge, or sentence discharge. Ask IDOC to clarify its own label. A county office cannot correct the department's state record, just as IDOC cannot alter the sentencing court's judgment.
Danville Parole and Discharge
The Illinois Prisoner Review Board has different roles for different sentence types. Modern determinate mandatory supervised release is statutory. Old-law indeterminate parole involves discretionary review. Qualifying youthful parole follows its own statute and eligibility rules. It is inaccurate to describe every departure from Danville Correctional Center as a parole-board grant.
The PRB mandatory supervised release material explains the supervision stage, while the profile supplies the person-specific IDOC status and dates. PRB also maintains hearing schedules, decisions, revocation material, and early final-discharge information for the cases those processes cover. A calendar or general decision list should not be forced into a person-name lookup it was not designed to provide.
Sentence credit can affect projected timing. IDOC explains that rates vary by offense, conviction date, and statute. Some sentences can involve 50, 75, 85, or 100 percent service rules. Program and earned credits also have eligibility limits and can be discretionary or revoked. A projected date is therefore not a promise of the actual day a person will leave prison.
Other events can move the date or change the destination. Credit loss, a disciplinary ruling, a new court order, a warrant, a detainer, recalculation of custody credit, or a supervision decision can alter the timeline. The sentence judgment and 730 ILCS 5/3-6-3 control the legal calculation, while the current IDOC profile reports the department's operative public dates. For a high-stakes dispute, obtain the court judgment and a formal IDOC response instead of estimating from sentence length.
About Danville Correctional Center
Danville Correctional Center must remain separate from the Vermilion County Jail / Public Safety Building in both search and records requests. IDOC controls state admission, location, sentence, release, parole, and discharge material. The county sheriff cannot produce records held only by IDOC, and the Circuit Clerk cannot rewrite an IDOC status.
Illinois VINELink may report a state custody event and allow notification registration. It is useful as a status and notice layer, but it is not a certified release record and its archive duration is not published. A VINE alert should be checked against the IDOC profile and, when exact proof is needed, the department's record response.
Federal systems apply only if the record shows a federal handoff. The BOP locator covers sentenced federal custody, while the U.S. Marshals Service commonly manages federal pretrial transport and has no equivalent public historical release locator. Neither should be searched merely because Danville Correctional Center sits in Vermilion County.
A court docket can add context without proving the prison door-out time. It may show the judgment, sentence, mittimus, or later order. The IDOC movement and release record remains the key operational source. If another state or federal authority receives the person, follow the named receiving agency. Do not convert departure from one institution into an unsupported claim of return to the community.
